Sweetness in the belly | The title of the series has a double meaning and speaks to the feelings experienced during my first visit to Cuba in late 2019. As I was quickly adjusting to Cuban life I was invited into a family home and sampled the rich, sweet flavor of Cuban coffee. The name also refers to the richness of human life found behind the old, crumbling exterior of Havana that quickly restores an individual’s faith in humanity. Both experiences left me with a sweet feeling in my stomach.
Admiration for the work created by the masters who had visited before me, I was keen to leave with my own interpretation of this beautiful island. My aim as always when visiting a new place was to present a series of themes that would allow individuals to determine their own feelings towards Cuba.

My aim is to seek out and capture moments in everyday life that would otherwise go unnoticed, whether in remote towns or bustling city streets.
